Czechia – Majority of firms to raise wages in 2023 (CTK Business News)

23 January 2023

A total of 69% of Czech companies raised wages last year and the same proportion plans to do so in 2023, reports CTK Business News, citing research from Grafton Recruitment. Out of those who plan to raise wages, two thirds intend to increase them by 6% to 10%, a third by less than 5%, while 6% of employers plan increases of between 11% to 30%.

Employers sought to mitigate last year's inflationary pressures by enhancing benefits, with 28% of companies introducing new benefits or increasing the value of the existing ones. Those mostly included higher meal contributions or meal voucher values. In some cases, new financial benefits were introduced, such as contributions towards travel costs, one-off or regular contributions towards energy costs or new bonuses. Meanwhile, 41% of companies plan to expand their teams in 2023 with 3% by over 30%, 15% by 11% to 30% and the rest by about 5%.
